ARLINGTON, Texas — Small business owners and local contractors are being handed a rare opportunity to bypass the typical red tape of government procurement. On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the City of Arlington will host its annual Reverse Trade Show at the Bob Duncan Center.
Unlike a traditional trade show where you wait at a booth for customers to find you, the “Reverse” format puts city department heads behind the tables. Business owners are invited to roam the floor, introducing their services directly to the people who authorize city spending.
Event Logistics & Details

Who Should Attend?
The Office of Procurement is specifically seeking vendors in two primary categories:
- Trade Services: Landscapers, electricians, plumbers, concrete contractors, and janitorial services.
- Goods & Supplies: Vendors selling uniforms, office furniture, industrial chemicals, and maintenance/repair supplies.
“This event allows businesses to meet face to face with the decision makers in city departments,” says Procurement Manager Will Velasco. “The goal is to create new business relationships that could lead to long-term contracts down the road.”
The “Vendor Toolkit”: How to Prepare
To make a lasting impression on the city’s procurement officers, attendees should come prepared with more than just a handshake. Experts recommend bringing:
- Business Cards: Bring at least 50–100 high-quality cards.
- Capability Statement: This is essentially a “resume for your business.” It should be a one-page document highlighting your core competencies, past performance, and specific certifications (like MWBE or HUB).
- Networking Readiness: Be prepared to give a 30-second “elevator pitch” about how your service solves a specific city need.
