A tragic collision involving a motor vehicle has claimed the lives of two prominent members of the North Texas cycling community. The incident occurred on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at approximately 8:19 a.m. on FM 455 E, just east of Fritcher Road in Pilot Point.

The victims, identified as Andre Kocher, 60, and Scott Mages, 55, were participating in a group training ride with the Frisco Triathlon Club when they were struck by a vehicle.

Details of the Collision and Response

Emergency reports indicate that multiple witnesses called 911 following the impact. Pilot Point Police and EMS, alongside the Celina Fire Department, arrived to find both men with critical, life-threatening injuries.

  • Emergency Transport: One cyclist was rushed by ambulance to Methodist Celina Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
  • Airlift Support: The second cyclist was transported via CareFlite helicopter to Medical City Plano, where he also succumbed to his injuries.

According to investigators, the driver of the vehicle involved traveled a short distance away immediately after the crash but quickly returned to the scene before law enforcement arrived. Police confirmed the driver has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation. No formal charges have been announced at this time as authorities continue to reconstruct the events of the crash.

The Frisco Triathlon Club described the two men as “friends, mentors, and a constant presence” within the tight-knit athletic community. In their honor, the club is hosting a Santa Fun Run to bring the community together for a moment of reflection and support.
