If your Friday night plans could use a little brass-band energy and a cold beer in the park, Southwest Arlington has you covered. The city’s annual Oktoberfest celebration returns this Friday, October 23, taking over SJ Stovall Park (2800 W. Sublett Road) from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Both admission and parking are completely free.
Presented jointly by Arlington Parks, Recreation and Culture and the Sister Cities of Arlington, Texas, this year’s gathering is more than just a fall festival. It marks a major civic milestone for the city.
What Is Happening on the Grounds
The evening is built to be family-friendly from start to finish, mixing classic Bavarian festival traditions with an easygoing backyard park hangout. The German Band of North Texas will be on stage providing the live oompah soundtrack all evening while guests spread out across the lawn.
- Live Bavarian Music: Traditional German brass and festival music performed live by the German Band of North Texas.
- Stein Hoisting Contest: Test your grip and endurance in the classic stein hosting competition.
- Food & Cold Beer: The City’s Home Plate Restaurant will be on-site serving food and beer for purchase, alongside a lineup of local food trucks and vendors accepting both cash and card.
- Games & Activities: Yard games, a photo booth, and family activities set up across the park grounds.
Insider Tip • Bring Your Own Cooler
While plenty of food, beverages, and beer from Home Plate Restaurant and local food trucks will be available for purchase (cash or card accepted), guests are also invited to pack and bring their own coolers for the 75th anniversary picnic.
