Community Events • Weekly Guide Halloween & Fall Festivities October 29 – November 4, 2026
As autumn settles across The American Dream City, Arlington is rolling out a packed lineup of completely free, family-friendly events running from Thursday, October 29 through Wednesday, November 4, 2026. From an ambitious outdoor Shakespeare production under the evening sky at Levitt Pavilion to daytime Renaissance fairs, costume 1-mile runs, and neighborhood craft workshops, this week offers plenty of ways to celebrate Halloween weekend without spending a dime.
Here is your curated guide to every major free event happening across Arlington over the coming week.
Ever wanted to try your hand at quilting? Head to the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on Thursday evening for an encouraging, beginner-friendly introduction to traditional and modern quilting craft.
Instructors will guide participants through designing, cutting, and layering decorative fabric shapes to create customized applique pieces. The workshop is welcoming to ages 13 and older, making it ideal for curious first-timers as well as returning crafters looking to polish their hands-on techniques.
Set a spooky tone for Halloween weekend with an atmospheric open-air staging of William Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy, Macbeth. Presented free of charge by Shakespeare LIVE, the drama chronicles Macbeth’s fateful plunge into ruthless ambition, guilt, and paranoia following a chilling prophecy from three witches.
Audience members are invited to bring lawn chairs, cozy blankets, and picnic dinners, or purchase dinner and refreshments from on-site food trucks. Note that due to its intense dramatic themes, the production is best suited for mature audiences.
Travel back in time as Downtown Arlington hosts its first-ever Shakespeare RenFest on Halloween afternoon. This free, family-friendly gathering turns the Levitt lawn into an old-world fair with live period entertainment, musical performances, artisan crafts, handmade gifts, and local food trucks.
The afternoon festivities lead directly into Shakespeare LIVE’s final evening staging of Macbeth starting at 7:00 PM, giving visitors an entire day and evening of immersive historical theater and Renaissance celebration.
Throw on your favorite Halloween costume and get active with the entire family at the Lululemon Arlington Costume Family Fun Run. This free one-mile community jog and walk is co-led by the energetic runners of Movida Run Club, RunHER, and Run O’Clock.
Following the one-mile course, participants will enjoy music from a live DJ, trick-or-treating, and additional Halloween activities connecting seamlessly with the center’s wider Tricks & Treats event.
Keep the Halloween momentum rolling at Tricks & Treats on The Lawn at Arlington Highlands. Little ones and families in costume can trick-or-treat directly at participating center retailers for sweets and surprises (while supplies last).
The afternoon also features live DJ entertainment and dedicated Halloween photo opportunities. Families are encouraged to bring their own candy collection bags and arrive early to participate in Lululemon’s 10:30 AM Fun Run.
