ARLINGTON — An armed robbery that took place in Arlington on Sunday, September 14, concluded with a police chase and crash in Fort Worth, resulting in the arrest of a 19-year-old male suspect.
Arlington police officers were called to an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Cypresswood Trail at approximately 5:15 p.m. following a report of an armed robbery. The 22-year-old victim informed police that he had been meeting a friend at the complex when multiple suspects stole money from him at gunpoint before fleeing the scene in a black Jeep Cherokee.
The victim’s detailed description of the vehicle was critical. Officers later located the Jeep traveling west on Interstate 30. When police attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver failed to yield, leading officers on a brief pursuit that crossed into Fort Worth. The chase ended when the Jeep, traveling south on Loop 820 near Berry Street, collided with two other vehicles and became disabled.
Following the crash, two suspects exited the Jeep and attempted to flee on foot. While two individuals ran from the scene, the 19-year-old male was successfully taken into custody. Police confirmed that no one in the other vehicles involved in the collision sustained injuries.
